THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE
Pro Mathata Thomeletso is on a mission to protect the lion prides in his village in Botswana's Okavango Delta, where entire prides are often killed in retaliation for preying on cattle. To mitigate this, communal herds were established to protect cattle from predators. Kutlwano Tsheko, an eco-ranger, and his skilled team of herders keep a watchful eye over the large herds day and night.
Pro and Kutlwano work close together to protect both lions and cattle. However, they face a pressing issue: monitored lions continue to enter the grazing areas and kill cattle.

ON AFRICAN SOIL
In a remarkable breakthrough, a group of rural farmers in Zambia has successfully cultivated high-quality maize and vegetables without relying on any artificial fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. For veteran farmers Muungha Habeenzu and Derrick Mwiinga, establishing the farm from scratch was a challenging journey of trial and error. Located within a sensitive wildlife corridor, they were compelled to abandon conventional farming practices. Instead, they used locally available organic resources to enhance soil health, manage pests, and boost yields. Will their environmentally conscious farming inspire widespread adoption in Africa’s wildlife areas?
